The Nakuru carries two ways without becoming two bags. On the 15" top handles it is a structured handbag — the kind that sits upright on a desk or a conference table and looks like it belongs there. On the adjustable, detachable shoulder strap it becomes a hands-free shoulder bag for a commute, a market, or a full travel day. The transition takes seconds and the bag looks intentional in either position.
The interior is designed around a laptop. The main compartment fits up to a 14" laptop, with enough space around it that pulling the laptop out does not require unpacking the bag. Behind the main compartment: an interior zipper pocket for a passport, a flat pouch, or documents that need to stay separate. Two open slip pockets on either side of the main compartment hold a phone, keys, and a card case without digging. The exterior dimensions are 12" × 14" × 4" — the bag stands upright on its own.
Every piece of hardware on the Nakuru is brass: the D-rings, the strap clips, and the zipper pulls on the top closure and interior pocket. Brass hardware is heavier than the zinc alloys used in most bags, ages better against full-grain leather, and does not corrode. The top zipper spans the full width of the bag.
The leather is full-grain — the outermost layer of the hide, where the natural fiber structure is intact and the surface has not been corrected or coated. Full-grain leather does not peel, does not wear dull, and develops a patina with use that makes it more distinctive over time. The Nakuru is intentionally left in its natural finish, which means it improves with age rather than wearing away from it.
